Wellspring helps transform food systems and agricultural value chains to deliver positive impact. We provide high-quality strategic advisory and implementation support to development organisations and the private sector
Our role
Our work helps increase the dietary diversity of the poor, drive climate mitigation and adaptation, enhance gender equality, and contribute to economic development (e.g. jobs, livelihoods, and trade linkages). We do this by helping our clients navigate the trade-offs between people, prosperity, and planet and identify win-win-wins where they exist.
Our expertise
We have deep practical experience implementing projects and investing in agribusinesses, combined with a strong research and consulting skillset. Alongside our partners we have facilitated investments into businesses and market development projects worth over £800 million over the past 14 years. We work in LMIC territories, with particular expertise and deep networks in Sub-Saharan Africa and Asia. We have carried out over 90 projects in agribusiness and food systems to date.
Our services
We’re here as thought partner and implementing partner to help to ensure you put in place the very best strategy and systems to maximise your return on investment and positive impact, making sure together we make markets/business work for the poor.

Many thanks for all your hard work on this important brief…[the final presentation] event was undoubtedly the best and most diversly attended (good!) event that I have participated in at FCDO in a long time. Really, really good. We look forward to seeing a lot more debate as the brief and key recommendations are being rolled out
